This is a great post -- you really provide a good introduction to creating a social media strategy. This can be a confusing topic at first, and you've made it much more accessible. I'd be interested in your future posts to see a discussion of specific tactics that work well for companies that are just getting started with social media.

It's about making friends. That's the hardest part to explain to the companies, because they don't want friends, they want consumers.
Nice post! It's fun how we really have to try long-term strategies in social media even when it changes so fast.

(I can't assure my english, not a native speaker).

Brand Managers have this feeling that people working as social media marketing have some kind of magic wands, hiring them will surely lead to a increase sale for their brands.

I really like this article... I like the way you have put together the way the marketer thinks specially when he is deciding to use social media marketing or not. The worse thing is that, they have the impression that we have a magic wand and we can drive traffic like it was creating magic!

Thanks for the great advice on the complicated entry into social media. As a student, it's always helpful to learn strategy to back up the social media skills that I'm learning!
